Godzilla Destroy All Monters Rated: Teen

The Bottom Line

Atari has brought us the best Godzilla game to date. Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee is a fun giant monster fighting game. Oddly enough the Melee mode is the least interesting in the game.
Pros
  • Amazing in game graphics
  • Solid 3D fighting
  • Excellent sound effects
Cons
  • Camera issues
  • 4 player mode doesn't feel quite right

Description

  • Graphics: 4.5/5 Don't let the weak intro movie fool you. The in-game graphics are superb.
  • Sound: 4/5 Godzilla's roar is perfect. The only thing missing is the original cheesy music.
  • Concept: 4/5 Straight out of the movies. Beat back the alien threat as any of 12 monsters.
  • Control: 3/5 The controls are limited greatly by some pretty awkward camera angles.
  • Replay: 3.5/5 You'll play through the game over and over trying to unlock 8 of the monsters.
  • Multiplayer: 3.5/5 Two player vs. mode is great. But with four players the camera zooms too far out.
  • Difficulty: 4/5 Medium and hard modes can be tough. Luckily you can unlock most monsters on easy.

Guide Review - Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee - Xbox, GameCube

Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee did exactly what it set out to do. It captured the look, feel, and style of Japan's giant monster movies. All of your favorites are there, Godzilla, King Gidorah, Rodan and nine more. Mothra makes an appearance, but not as a playable monster. The environments are destructible, and you can even huck buildings at each other.

The story is straight out of the movies. Aliens have taken control of the monsters and you must fight past them to destroy the alien's ultimate weapon... Mecha Godzilla! []The only downside is some faulty camera work. Your monster will get stuck far too many times on invisible buildings.

Is it perfect? No. Is it fun? Oh yeah. Godzilla delivers good time a plenty.
