“The Final Countdown”

Overall, this is probably one of the best PS2 games on the market right now and has one of the highest replay values of any game I’ve ever had the joy of playing. Additionally, the latest news indicates that the current build of the PS3 (as of November 10th 2006) doesn’t allow you to use the Guitar Controller for playing Guitar Hero II because of controller read conflicts, making your PS2 all the more worthwhile. The Graphics, music and game play all funnel into the game’s quest to make gamers feel like a guitarist greater than Jimi Hendrix, Bryan May, Herman Li and Chainsaw, the Prince of Karate, combined. The new practice, co-op and pro-face-off modes all add greater depth to an already great game and concept, while the new songs just create a vast library with a long lifespan. In the end, Guitar Hero II shines near the end of the PS2’s long legacy and gives this “last gen” console a new lease on life.
