So you want to give the gift of gaming this year. Good call. Give any of these five games and you will be hippest gift giver at your holiday celebration. All of these games have come out since October, making them perfect holiday picks.

1. The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King - PS2, Xbox, GameCube, GBA

The Return of the King is not only a blockbuster movie, but it's a knockout video game as well. Perhaps a bit violent for the little tykes, this game is a must have for anyone else. Amazing graphics, footage from the film, and intense gameplay make this a surefire hit. - Rated: Teen

2. SSX 3 - PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance

SSX 3 is the King of the Mountain when it comes to snowboarding games. This time around the action all takes place on one gigantic mountain. You can easily spend a half hour just cruising down it. SSX 3 is not only a blast to play, but features one of the best video game soundtracks ever, with popular techno, rap, and rock artists playing on the virtual radio station. SSX 3 is extreme action sports at its finest. - Rated: Everyone

3. Medal of Honor: Rising Sun - PS2, Xbox, GameCube

The latest instalment in the award winning Medal of Honor series takes place in the South Pacific. This WWII shooter starts you at Pearl Harbor and has you later hoping islands in search of stolen Japanese gold. Though it's a fictional story,the history surrounding the game is accurate, and even features news reel footage. Excellent first person shooter with a historical twist. It's like playing through a good WWII movie. --- Rated: Teen

4. True Crime: Streets of LA - PS2, Xbox, GameCube

In this homage to Grand Theft Auto 3 you play as Nick Kang, a very hardcore cop who is out to take down the Asian Mafia in L.A. Just like Grand Theft Auto you can roam the city at will, 'commandeer' cars, and attempt missions. Aside from having better graphics, True Crime features a complex fighting system, and branching story. This is a violent game, and while it is a lot of fun, it certainly is intended for mature audiences. - Rated: Mature

5. Quidditch World Cup - PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance

Aimed directly at younger audiences, Quidditch world cup may appeal to a wider audience than expected. The game is based on the mythical game of Quidditch, the sport everyone is fond of in the Harry Potter series of books. In this game, you can play as any of the houses in the Harry Potter books, and all the characters are there. Aside from all the fun fantasy from the books, this is a fun action sports game in its own right. - Rated: Everyone
