EA Will Release Six Heavy Hitting Games for the PSP Launch

EA Adds FIFA Football at CES to Its Top Notch PSP Line-Up

By Roger Altizer, About.com

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Electronic Arts announced its entire PSP handheld entertainment system line up, which is set for release when the system launches in the U.S. this March. EA's PSP list of launch titles includes two new EA SPORTS staples; FIFA Football and MVP Baseball,(only available in the U.S and not in the UK) along with four previously announced franchise greats; Need for Speed Underground Rivals, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, NBA STREET: Showdown (working title) and NFL STREET 2: Unleashed. EA is banking on the notion that PSP gamers want the same big brand franchises on the PSP as they do on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube.

With these new releases, players will have the ultimate EA gaming experience in the palm of their hand. With blockbuster franchises custom designed and specially tuned for a top-notch on-the-go play experience, all six games feature original game modes, head-to-head wi-fi multiplayer, unique content, party play and EA Pocket TRAX. EA plans to take advantage of all that the PSP has to offer, in a bid to be the premier developer for the PSP. This may also be their chance to test the water for an upcoming rush of new cell-phone games.

Inspired by hit franchises, all six games are being specifically developed and optimized for the new device by EA's Team Fusion, an elite group of 150 developers, spanning two award-winning studios (EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C. and EA Tiburon in Orlando, Fl.). Anyone who plays EA Sports games, such as Madden 2005, knows that Tiburon is a driving force behind the quality players have come to expect from EA Sports.

"We know from experience that it takes great games to transform a gaming device from a gadget into a phenomenon," said Warren Wall, Executive Producer and Director of EA's Team Fusion. "We're taking the best of our franchises and customizing them for the PSP – the gameplay, graphics and sound are being fine-tuned specifically with the on-the-go gamer in mind."
