By , About.com Guide

Hothead Games has announced that the wacky and wonderful Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is finally available for download on the PlayStation 3. PlayStationites can now nab it off of the PlayStation Network for $14.99. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is a full featured download with trophies, score ranking and background music (BGM) support. Some games, present company included, are simply worth the wait.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is a hybrid RPG-Adventure game set in the "comic-book-meets-pulp-horror-meets-H.P. Lovecraft deranged 1920s universe of New Arcadia" the game is episodic, encouraging gamers to purchase it one bite at a time. To be frank, the price seems a bit high for episodic content, but the game is of a much higher quality than most with this business model.

Players create a character to join Gabe and Tycho (of Penny Arcade fame) who in this universe comprise the crime-solving team of the Startling Developments Detective Agency. In RPG fashion players will combat enemies and solve puzzles all over New Arcadia. The game is the result of collaboration between Hothead Games and Penny Arcade, and it shows both in the art style and distinct humor in the game. Mike "Gabe" Krahulik and Jerry "Tycho" Holkins both have their creative fingerprints all over the game.

When asked about the game Vlad Ceraldi, CEO of Hothead offered the following: "Hothead is now adding a new platform to its roster. This is the first of what I'm sure will be many more great Hothead games on the PlayStation Network. In fact, Episode Two for this platform is almost ready and we expect it to launch before Christmas."

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is rated "M" for Mature by the Entertainment Software Rating Board for all platforms. Cute as it may look, it's likely to offend mothers across the globe.
