Curious about Armies of Exigo? Youve come to the right place. You need to know two things off the bat: Exigo has beautiful graphics and Exigo extends RTS gaming into a multi-planed battle front. Not succeeding with your aboveground campaign, send your miners into the depth to tunnel you toward success. Oh, and by the way, yes this is another rip of the Warcraft series.
The Good Side of the Army
Alright, lets cut to the chase. This is another Warcraft copy. But as we faithful crafters know, there are good copies and there are bad copies. Which one is this you ask: lets find out.
Start with the good: the graphics are pretty amazing, not only in the cinematic stories, but in the game play too. The trees are crisp and swap side to side, the characters are more detailed and the game play is generally more visually interesting.
Also, the multileveled war front does make the RTS game more interesting. Not only do you have to worry about rogue warriors streaming into your camp from afar, you have to watch out for mine shafts popping up near your farms. If you want to try a suicide run against your opponents castle, think dig. Carrying out a war on two fronts is defiantly more interesting and fun.
The Bad Side of the Army

Armies of Exigo
That pros section was mighty small. Now for the cons. All of the fun features in Warcraft like buying items and leveling your hero have been taken out of Exigo. Your heroes are static figures that dont gain strength. Also, your limited in how many men you can put in a party just like the old RTS. This is a big limitation for the gameplay. You know the hassle of leading a big campaign into an enemy city, and not being able control more than 18 solders at once.
Also the game play for Exigo is frustrating. Sometimes the game scrolling is choppy and irritating. Also, the separate maps for the underground and above ground terrain are on separate sides of the screen. So if you are fighting on two fronts, you have to switch from side to side frequently.
There are some nice new characters in this game, including a number of flying machines and beasts. But there is still a lack of creativity in evolving the RTS beyond the Warcraft standard.
Time Will Tell
Yes, this game has a multiplayer function. Only time will tell if Exigo will create maps as celebrated as Warcraft III. Until then, heres my suggestion. If you are hooked on good graphics and like to see two planes of war: check out Armies of Exigo. If that isnt your cup of coke, then gift Exigo to you cousin whos never heard of Warcraft.
