Dark places; I have been there. Scary people; I have spoken to them. Outrageous bribes; I have made them. All in order to get you the following rumors of what we can expect Sony to announce at the PlayStation press conference at E3 this year.

Please note: These are just rumors, so treat them as such. That being said, quite a few of them seem too good not to be true. You can watch the press conference via live stream on the Official PlayStation blog June 6th at 5pm PST (8PM EST)

Security
This has to be something Sony must address fast and hard. From the hacking and subsequent takedown of the PlayStation Network and Qriocity music service, to the hacking of Sony Pictures and websites, the past couple of months have been brutal for the company's image. Sony has done a great job of offering a "Welcome Back" package with free games and the like, but folks want to be reassured that their data, especially their credit card info, is safe with Sony before they plug those digits into their PlayStation 3's again.
Bottom Line: Expect Sony to not only address security concerns, but to speak directly to increasing the protection for the PlayStation consoles.

New Platforms
We already know the NGP (next generation portable) will be a show stopper, with its dual touch screens and incredible graphics. It will probably be getting a permanent name change (my money is on "PSP 2" or "PSP Dual") and we should expect to see a list of incredible games, perhaps even "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" on it. Also expect news of the PSP HD remastered games, bringing PlayStation titles back from the past with updated graphics.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play can be bought for Verizon already. The first PlayStation certified phone will be getting new cousins in the form of Android-powered PlayStation certified tablets the S1 and S2. I also would expect news of the Xperia Play making it to AT&T.
Bottom Line: 20011/2012 = PlayStation everywhere. PS3, NGP, Phone, Tablet.

PlayStation Move
The PlayStation Move will most likely be getting a lot of love. The Move already received a new attachment (the Sharpshooter) to aid it with hardcore games such as "Killzone 3" and "SOCOM 4." While there are rumors of upgraded controllers or a new PlayStation Eye (I vote "unlikely") there will be new games revealed, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear of Move support being announced for upcoming multiplatform titles. "Sorcery" may be the killer PlayStation Move game we've all been waiting for. However, biggest Move announcement will be the official release of Move.me which will allow the community to download the SDK to make Move games that can be run on the PC and PS3.
Bottom Line: Sony is going to be supporting the Move not only for developers, but for the community at large.

New PlayStation Games
As you should always expect, you will be getting news and a peek at great games. Uncharted 3, The Last Guardian, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One are all games I'd expect to see at the PlayStation press conference. Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised to hear about previously unannounced games such as Heavenly Sword 2, a new God of War, a new Sly Cooper game, a new Metal Gear Solid, GTA V, one of the many new FF XIII games, and new PC/PS3 versions of DCUO and Everquest. I'd also expect to see a lot of 3D video games for the PlayStation.
Bottom Line: Lots of great PS3 games for holiday 2011 release.

I'm sure Sony has some PlayStation secrets hidden deep up its sleeve (new 3D PS3 Move version of "Eye of Judgement?"). But we'll just have to wait to see what happens. If Sony can reassure the public that the PlayStation 3 is safe, and if the Wii 2 doesn't floor everyone, expect Sony to come out ahead with the biggest announcements this year.
