Pro Evo Soccer to Use PS3 Wand
Konami is "aggressively" exploring ways to incorporate motion control into its popular Pro Evolution Soccer (PES/ProEvo) games as early as 2011.
According to IGN, Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, the man in charge of the Pro Evo football games said that Konami's focus on making all the various versions of PES control the same is headed out the window as the company has decided to enthusiastically embrace both the PS3 Wand and the Xbox 360's project Natal.
While no specifics were given, the thought is an interesting one. Will it be like the early days of the Wii? Where figuring out a way to make motion control compelling and intuitive was more of a miss than a hit? Or is a videogame based on the world's most popular sport ideally suited to motion control.
Tough to say. While everyone was initially excited about Madden and Tiger on the Wii, the fantasy of hiking the pig skin or slamming a 300 yard drive in your living room simply never really was fulfilled by the Wii-mote.
Perhaps the PS3 Wand or Microsoft's Natal will be a more satisfying sports gaming experience, we'll find out when Konami brings PES motion control to the high-def consoles.
