Activision to Stop Making PlayStation Games?
Tuesday June 23, 2009
Or so the saber rattling of Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision went in a a recent interview. Kotick went on to tell The Times:
I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform. It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation. His solution? A cheaper PS3.
They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony. Now we all know that Guitar Hero isn't going to run away from it's PlayStation cash cow anytime soon. However, this is the head of the world's largest game publisher.... perhaps he really is a tad bit more than grumpy at the moment...
Thoughts? Would love to read your opinion in the comments.

as a investor i follow Activision very closely and to be honest this comment is totally out of place think bobby needs to get his head out of his butt yes ps3 is expensive and yes a price cut will come eventually but public threats are pointless this is something he should of discussed in private with sony then again perhaps he did and did not like the answer he got
After buying three guitars, a drum kit, a microphone and three different Guitar Hero games because my girlfriend enjoys playing them maybe once a month (if that) this is very welcome news. There are so many great games coming down the road that I can’t afford them all anyway. Goodbye, Activision. Don’t let the door hit ya.
Activision to Stop Making PlayStation Games? Really? Really? Wouldn’t “Activision Pushing Sony for a PS3 Price Drop” been a more accurate headline?
You’re a douche Roger.
I added a question mark for you, hope that helps ease the pain my title caused
