Top 5 Reasons to Buy a PS3 (Not a Xbox 360 or a Wii)
Of course, all there systems are wonderful and have their unique strengths, but they are very different. Our articles point out the differences of each of our respective consoles and will hopefully help you pick the right one for your gaming and non gaming needs.
I am a bit biased, but it's justified, as we all know the PS3 is the system to have.

Comments
I own all 5 systems currently (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, NDS and PSP) and I find that the PS3 only gets used more than the Wii and NDS and that’s only because of the media functionality.
But let’s look at your points:
> #1 – The PS3 Has Hi-Def/Blu-ray
Only matters if you’re using your gaming box for watching movies. The 360 does high def games just as well as the PS3 and based on the scores over at GameRankings and Metacritic, titles released on both platforms perform, look and play better on the 360.
> #2 – The PS3 Is Ready Out of the Box, Cheaper to Own
You don’t need to recharge the 360 or Wii controllers as both work perfectly well with ubiquitous AA batteries. AA’s BTW last longer in a 360 controller than the rechargeable PS3 battery which, when it runs out, leaves you SOL until it recharges. Hope you ponied up for one of those $60 extra controllers so you can always have one charged.
> Want to get online using your WiFi network?
No. No I don’t. Gaming requires high network speeds which means a hard wired network connection. 100Mb/sec. The last thing you want to do is slow down your gaming experience by going wireless.
> Want to play games online? That will
> require you to purchase an Xbox Live Gold
> Membership.
Or you can use any one of the numerous free accounts that come with most games these days.
> Want to download new games and video for
> your console? While it is no problem for
> the PS3, but you may have to purchase
> additional storage for some Xbox 360s and
> Wiis if you plan to download much of
> anything.
The only 360 which requires extra storage is the Arcade Pack, which is targeted toward people who just want the games and don’t care about the online stuff to begin with. Even the 20 GB 360 is sufficient to download pretty much whatever you want.
> #3 – The PS3 Has Great Games To Satisfy the > Mainstream and the More Discerning Gamer
Metacritic lists 303 Playstation 3 games currently in release. Of those just 99 of them are exclusive to the PS3, which means that 2/3rds of the PS3 library is also available on the Xbox 360.
Of those 99 titles, 35 of them scored less than 70% which means they really aren’t worth owning in the first place.
Flip it around and look at it the other way, the 360 has 587 games, of which 383 are exclusive. Of those exclusives 211 score less than 70%.
So the 360 has more games, better games and, uh, “more better” games.
> #4 – The PS3 Has Lots of Multimedia and
> Non-gaming Features
> The PS3 can show pictures, play videos, and > So does the Xbox 360, but only the PS3 will > allow you to stream it to your PlayStation > Portable, remotely.
As a PS3 and PSP owner I can tell you, Remote Play sucks. It doesn’t work as advertised and has wasted countless hours of people trying to get it to work properly.
> This means you can access your media,
> including Blu-ray discs, on the road using > your PSP
No, no it doesn’t. Blu-Ray is not supported under Remote Play. Even if/when it does work you cannot access Blu-Ray or DVD media.
> The PS3 also supports Linux as an
> additional operating system, allowing it to > be used for a variety of non-gaming
> purposes.
Which runs at 1/2 the speed as a PC running Linux because of the PS3 RAM bottleneck.
> #5 – Online Gaming Is Free and Easy
True. Too bad the games people play online aren’t on the PS3. Like Left 4 Dead.
Thanks for your big help! I will defiantly buy a PS3 now!
Jordan, I think you’re a tad biased and a bit of a fanboy, therefore your argument is invalid and needless to say…a little stupid. First off, the PS3 is rechargable, and SOL when it’s dead? Not at all, you CAN play with the controller while it’s charging (*gasp!* What a concept!). Second off, the Xbox does have more games than the PS3…but considering it’s come out a whole YEAR before the Ps3, I’d be surprised if they didn’t, and most Xbox games are also out for the PS3 (funny how that works both ways, eh?).
Though I admit the points on the 5 reasons to get a PS3 are a little…shall I say stupid? Your argument is on the same level of retardation. Figure I’d point out two of your flaws. Good day, sir!
YEAH!!! BUT U DONT SEE HALO, ON PS3
YEAH!!! NO ONE CARES ABOUT HALO
Ratchet & Clank is also another reason to buy a PS3
wow jordan really is retarded, typical 360 fanboy , obviously you don’t own a ps3 with your stupid explanation with the controller running out of batteries SOL..ps3 controllers come with a usb cord so you can charge it while you play and it takes like 10 minutes to fully charge but you wouldn’t know that cause you have an imaginary ps3..
Hey Jordan, you’re a fanboy
I own both the PS3 and Xbox 360 and any game that is one both i always get the ps3 version becasue the graphics are always better.
Every single point you make is to bag out the PS3, so you obviously don’t own one.
i will clear up your points
1. Like i said PS3 has better graphics ESPECIALLY for ps3 developed games, where the dev has taken the time to use the ps3’s power.
2. why the hell would you want to use aa batteries, and you can just plug a usb cable in to recharge the ps3 control.
3. i agree xbox 360 has much more games but 360 is targerted towards young children where as PS3 is for the older gamer. Although i think you will start to see more and more ps3 exculsives as the xbox 360 hardware has already passed its used by date, while they have a long way to push in terms of graphics and content on the ps3 as the hardware is light years ahead of the 360.
4. i think ps3 is a much better media center than the 360, blu-rays aside it is still a better media box especially when paried with a pc holding all the content. this is where i get the most use out of my ps3, it basically rules my lounge room.
5. wtf, ps3 has tons of games people play online.
Just to cap it up. Jason is a 360 fanboy who pretends he owns a ps3 just so he can bag it out. anyone that owns a ps3 and xbox knows the ps3 is the better premium console. the 360 is good but not as good as the ps3. i mostly use my 360 for rpg’s and other niche games that aren’t on the ps3.
Pft
fan boys all of you
i just want my games i dont care what console :3
the idiot stated “True. Too bad the games people play online aren’t on the PS3. Like Left 4 Dead.” yeah that’s really too bad ? last time i checked left 4 dead is also on PC and it’s free to play online .I’m also pretty sure more people play on PC then 360, how embarrassing pretending to own a ps3 stating dumb arguments how 360 is better. Ignorant 360 fanboy at it’s best..the controller and batteries argument was just sad..
I to think that the ps3 fanboy is an idiot… i actually don’t own a ps3 at the moment because mine broke 3 weeks ago. but i still think ps3 is better… and i know for a fact that the ps3 has better graphics because ps3 runs at 60 frames per sec and 360 runs at 30 frames per second and he an idiot for the controller thing
SCREW THAT IM BUYING A PS3 TOMMOROW AND I ALREADY MADE UP MY MIND A LONG TIME AGO CUZ IN THE PAST 2 YEARS IT RED RINGED 5 TIMES AND I JUST ABOUT WASTED AND BOUGHT OVER 500 BATTERIES FOR THE CONTROLLER ANDD WHO CARES ABOUT “HALO” ANY MORE ANYWAY THAT WAS ONE OF THE MAIN RESONS I BOUGHT IT .. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A PS3 BUT MY BROTHER HAS AND I LOVED TO PLAY IT ALL THE TIME AND HALF THE TIME I CANT PLAY MINE BE COUSE IT RED RINGED AGAIN but i have played my xbox soooooo much its not even funny and i loved it sooooo much but im tired of it
Look guys, i will be buying a ps3 this week, mainly for the bluray but i will get a few exclusive game on in uncharted 2 etc. The ps3 is great however the graphics on the Xbox360 are generally better due to the Xenos graphics (i thinkt hats what its called). I know the PS3 has the ability to mayb have better graphics, but not yet, maybe in a year. Another thing i found is games like Pro Evo which i dont know if you lot are american so you have it under a different name, are laggy on the ps3 compared to the xbox360. Some of the comments were more like picking peanuts out of poo tho.
One guy on here said xbox made games for kids? lol what like Dead Space? No it doesnt make games for kids, thats like saying the ps3 makes games for kids with little big planet. You are confused with the Wii…
Regarding paying for online, £50 a year. big woop for a very well put together system, not that ps3 online isnt, but im happy to pay as i have been on there since the original xbox came out. Controller wise, stupid comment, i had to go out and buy a docking station for my xbox.
The ps3 slimline looks nice quieter and has the wifi built in. I have to take my xbox out of the cabinet as it get too hot in there lol. All in all tho you must ask how many PS3 would have been sold if it didnt have a blu ray player in it.
As i said i will own both by the end of the week.
what load of rubbish. I have both machines. as for graphics they pretty much the same. both machines are as good as each other. the xbox has more users and some better exclusives but the ps3 has much on offer also. as for gameplay graphics etc. its all rubbish. unless you sit there looking at a still for hours you wont even see the difference. I think this argument is pointless everyone will always have there own opinion on both. I prefer the 360. why pruly because I have more friends with a 360 than a ps3 and nothing more. I have games on both machines the same like cod modern warfare 2 etc. the is a small difference on my 1080p screen making the 360 look sharper but not better just different. the both look good. they both are worth buying and both are great machines buy what you prefer
Forget PS3 and 360 go with a PC game!!
