The most anticipated game of the season, Grand Theft Auto IV, has shipped today. Hopefully you pre-ordered it, or have an unscrupulous friend at GameStop who held a copy under the counter for you.
If you are one of the unlucky many who didn't get your hands on a copy today, perhaps this GTA IV screenshot gallery will help ease your pain.

I can’t believe kids are playing this game? Shouldn’t there be some restrictions on buying violent games like this? You can’t buyt a ticket to a R-rated movie if not accompanied by a parent. Shouldn’t it be the same for video games?
It’s a good question. But studies show that most children with M rated games has them purchased for them by adults. Just like R rated movies in the home, shouldn’t the parents be the ones that monitor what their children play? Also, there is no law stopping minors from going to rated R movies, it’s a self monitored industry regulation, just like videogame sales. From Walmart to GameStop they all have rules prohibiting the sales of M rated games to minors.
Every next gen console has password protected parental controls enabling a parent to lock out the ability of their game console to play M rated games without inputting said password. Beyond that, it is not up to the government to block or ban games based on mature content - content which I as an adult enjoy. So while some cry foul and demand that games with mature content be banned, they need only educate themselves about how to limit mature content in their own home to truly win the battle for little Jimmy’s innocence, while simultaneously not limiting my rights as an adult gamer to consume what I wish.
