The Eye of Judgment Online

Friday September 21, 2007
Of all the quirky games Sony has up its sleeve, Eye of Judgment has piqued my interest like no other non-blockbuster title.

For those of you who haven't seen it in action, check out the official Eye of Judgment page. This Yu-Gi-Oh! (tell me a Yu-Gi-Oh! eye game wouldn't sell a million) come to life card game keeps sounding better and better the more I hear about it. The impressions from the Tokyo Game Show about the online aspect of the game have me sold.

The ability to play online makes the game far more accessible to a wider audience. While I enjoyed playing the Star Trek CCG and other card games in the dorms at school, as a "grown-up" I can't quite bring myself to play Magic at a game shop. I would easily waste hours in an online game, however.

Console based customizable card games are nothing new, but playing with real cards, watching your creatures get summoned as you lay them on the board... it almost feels like playing holo-chess on the Millennium Falcon, only it looks better.
