Videogame Hardware Sales: November, 2006

Sunday December 10, 2006
Alright, we've all read the headlines. They state things like "Wii Trounces PS3" and allude to the fact that the PS3 came in third, behind the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii in November sales. Now, I'll give you the NPD numbers, but keep in mind that both the Wii and PS3 launched in the middle of the month, and that they both sold out. So, don't take this as a reflection of consumer interest or a measure of how the well the consoles are selling (sheesh, I sound like a stinking Sony PR rep, apologies).

November Sales:

  • DS: 918k
  • PS2: 664k
  • Game Boy Advance: 661k
  • Xbox 360: 511k
  • Wii: 476k
  • PSP: 412k
  • PS3: 197k
It looks like Sony came nowhere near delivering 400,000 PS3s in November, thought it looks like they will still try to ship one million units by year's end. The real winner in all of this? The Nintendo DS with 918,000 units sold in November, helping to drive $1.7 billion dollars in games and systems sold in November.
