The official word: PS3, November 17th, $499/599

Sony had its big shindig yesterday and shocked us all. The official word is that the PlayStation 3 will hit the streets globally on November 17th (start your pre-order now people). It will retail with two versions, a US $499 version will have a 20 gig HDD, and a US $599 version will have a 60 gig HDD. The same PS3s will cost CAN $549 and CAN $649. Oh, and the boomerang controller? Gone! The PS3 controller is a wireless hybrid version of the PS2's Dualshock. The clincher? It has built in motion sensors... oh, poor Nintendo.
