PS3 vs Xbox 360 = Betamax vs VHS, round 2

Oddly enough, next week will be key in starting what will be a long and costly battle over what will be the next DVD format. Will it be Blu-ray (Sony) or HD-DVD (Toshiba)? Blu-ray has the early advantage, with more Hollywood support, but HD-DVD now has Microsoft and the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on (can you say SEGA CD?) in its corner. Lobbying next week at E3 may lure studios and publishers to one side or another. It may come down to PS3 vs Xbox 360 in determining which DVD standard gets the largest installed base.
