Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Review (DVD, UMD)

Thursday May 4, 2006
Well, as promised, I've finally gotten finished my Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Review. I wanted to make sure I got at least a second viewing in, to give it a fair shake. I wanted to like FFVII: AC, I really did, but they made it so hard. As much as I enjoyed watching Cloud and co. in action, it really wasn't much of a feature length film. That said, check out my FFVII:AC review and leave some comments below so I can see what you thought. I am open to persuasion on this one.

I dont understand how you didnt like this movie more than you did. Story isnt weak at all, if you played the game, the story for AC ends it perfectly. The only thing they “tossed” in was the geostigma, but they explained it in a satisfactory way to me. I would have liked to have seen more extras, but the making of featurete is really good. The music was great, using ff7 themes for some and newer guitar driven pieces for some others, I really enjoyed the music. And I really, really dont understand why you dislike the story so. Its short, sure…but for a quick story to tie up how they chars from the game are fairing, and to help cloud get over his guilt of Zach and Aeiris deaths, it was perfect. I love the voice acting, japanese and english versions, its a dub’d movie, so not sure what ur expecting from the english verison. Theres blood 2 times, at the begining when cloud is shot and at the end when seph stabs cloud in the shoulder, its on his blade. Other than that, nobody really gets hit with anything that would draw blood. I agree about the rating tho, only thing I can think of is, they few cuse words.

The enemies..kadaj, doesnt just turn into sephiroth magically. He turns into seph after he absords Jenova’s head. This is explained, and is his little groups driving force, the entire movie.

As far as it being shallow, dull and otherwise bad movie, I cant help you with that one. Watch it again, pay more attention. Something. Cause I loved this movie. It ended the ff7 story in a great way. Giving cloud his forgiveness and riding their world of jenova finaly.

Way to spoil the plot, Lithius. Go back to Grade 6 English.

You know the plot going into this movie Suithil. Or at least, I did. The geostigma, kadaj being able to turn into seph with jenova’s head. Seph coming back. The only thing that was unknown, was how cloud gets rid of seph again. If I ruined it for you, sorry, but you read the comment.

As for the english comment. Grow up, theres no need to be rude. I have no need to be exact with the way I write online. I write simple, saves me time, and ppl can still read it just fine. It could have been worse if I had chosen to write like I do while Im playing online games.

Well, I supose that the only people who watched Advent Children also played the video game, and since we all loved (liked at the very least) that game, it’s obvious that we are biased in favor of it. So I really wanted to like this movie, but it was a borefest. It made look Spirit Within fun and well thought. And the animation isn’t that good. Some of the fighting secuences looks like they were made with puppets. Sure, the cgi models looks stunning, but when some of the movements looks that stiff and lifeless, you wonder if the budget was fairly distributed for every part of the film. The only part I really liked was the final battle against Kadaj/Sephiroth (forget the battle with the Bahamut Sin, it was very, very cheesy), but an exciting ten minute battle scene doesn’t save an otherwise boring picture. If it wasn’t for the cgi models and the last battle, I would truly regret that Square made this movie. Oh, well, at least they made good geek stuff of it. The Cloud w/Fenrir figure is just great.

If you watched this expecting to rate it without knowing at all what is going on, its like rating a movie that was presented in a language you don’t speak. And Lithius, you shouldn’t read a review while expecting it to be good and demand no spoilers. And just 2 pis u off im riting lik dis jirk.
