PS3 delay is good for videogame stocks?
Wednesday March 15, 2006
While the announcement that the PS3 is being delayed until November hurt Sony, whose stock fell 1.8 percent, it actually helped American videogame companies. EA, Activision, THQ, and Take-Two's stocks all saw an increase when the PS3 delay was announced. Analysts believed that the original spring PS3 release would have been only for Japan, and not North America. They were hoping for a November release in America, and, thus, the "delay" actually confirmed the date that most experts in the US were already expecting. The PS3 release date relief bore a direct affect on the videogame stocks. Now, let's hope that Sony will be able to keep their million units a month promise, and avoid shortages, come November.
