Hot Coffee still burns Rockstar

Rockstar games is being sued by the city of Los Angeles for allegedly hiding pornography in its game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2005. City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, who is running for California's Attorney General claims that Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two did not disclose the hidden content to the ESRB, who would have rated the game AO (adult's only) instead of MA 17+ (Mature for 17 and older). The timing is suspect, as it comes on the heels of several politicians, including Senator Clinton, attempting to enact legislation punishing retailers for selling mature rated games to minors. Whether or not this is a political stunt to help Delgadillo's career at this point one must question the motive. Rockstar has already lost millions on the re-rating of GTA: San Andreas. It should be noted that the original sex-mini-game could only be accessed by using a 3rd party cheat code device. While it was a PR fiasco for Rockstar to try and blame the content on hackers, it was obvious that mini-game was never intended to reach the general public. It appears as if this is another politician trying to cash in on anti-videogame sentiments. What is ironic is that Souther California is home of America's adult entertainment industry, and the location of many prominent game developers and publishers. The City Attorney should ask himself if he is furthering or hindering the interests of his constituents. TechWeb has the original story.
