Monday January 16, 2006
According to GameSHOUT.com, 2005 set a record for videogame sales, grossing $10.5 billion US dollars. One of the major forces behind the growth was the increased demand for portable games and systems, thanks to the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP. The report states that handheld gaming jumped to $1.4 billion, making this the second year in a row that portable game systems have brought in over $1 billion dollars. The number one selling game of the year? EA's Madden NFL 06 for the PS2. Eight of the top ten selling games of the year were PS2 games. All in all, another hot year for the Sony consoles.
