Sony Online Entertainment reaches out to Katrina's victims

Saturday September 3, 2005
Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has taken steps to help with the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina. Players of Everquest II can donate to the Red Cross by using the new /donate command in the game. For those of you who do not play Everquest, you can donate to the Red Cross relief efforts here. Additionally, SOE is suspending billing for the 13,000 online gamers affected by the hurricane. Billing will resume only when they are able to play again. Any in-game time sensitive items or structures have been 'paused' so the gamers won't suffer due to their absence.

A special thank you to Sony Online for thinking about your gamers and making efforts to help in the wake of this disaster.

This is the first news I've come across about a gaming company reaching out to help those affected by hurricane Katrina. If you have any other news on this topic, email me.
