PSP Firmware 2.0 released
Wednesday August 24, 2005
If you would have told me last year I'd be this excited about a firmware update I'd have told you that you overestimate my tech-nerdiness. Yet here we are, and I am giddy over this download. Sony has finally released the twice delayed PSP Firmware 2.0 update. The update can be downloaded directly to the PSP, using the network update tool, or it can be downloaded to the PC and transfered. In the near future, it will also be be bundled with UMD games and movies.
The update adds several new features, but may render some homebrew hack, mods, and software incompatible, for now at least. Luckily, I doubt it will hold back the homebrew hackers long. Some of the features of PSP 2.0 are:
- Internet browser
- MP4 (AVC) has been added as a playable video format
- ATRAC3 plus, MP4, and WAV audio format supported
- A wallpaper feature has been added
- TIFF, GIF, PNG and BMP have been added as viewable image formats
- and much, much more...
